Lena Boone Native American Artist

Lena Boone is the daughter of Edna Leki, who is believed to have been the first female fetish carver at Zuni, and the granddaughter of Teddy Weahkee. Weahkee became well known for a style of fetish carving that closely resembles historic Zuni forms. His descendants have carried on this tradition.
Lena and her sister, Dinah Gasper, have established reputations as superior carvers, producing both freestanding fetishes and finely crafted fetish necklaces. Lena's daughter Evalina and son Leland are also carvers.

More: LENA BOONE carves Zuni fetishes in a old style manner similar in some ways to her famous ancestors. Lena is the granddaughter of Teddy Weahkee and daughter of Edna Leki. Her children, including Leland Boone and Evalena Boone, carve attractive, traditional fetishes. Lena uses a variety of attractive stone from all over world to create magnificent and strong, traditional Zuni fetish carvings that are appropriate for Zuni Directional Sets, and are popular in Zuni fetish collections found nationally and internationally.
